Beyoncé Flaunts Her Baby Bump in Gucci
When Beyoncé recently announced she was expecting twins, it was clear that the singer’s maternity style was bound to be a dramatic affair. Her performance at the Grammys all but solidified this assumption, when, dressed as a sybaritic Yoruba priestess, she performed to a rapt audience in a gilded Peter Dundas custom gown and complementing headdress.
This time around, it seems that her pregnancy style isn’t about hiding her growing bump or dodging the cameras, but inviting them closer. Hence her game-changing courtside style at this weekend’s NBA All-Star basketball extravaganza in New Orleans.
Wading through the crush of superfans, Beyoncé was sheathed in a dramatic floor-length Gucci fur-trimmed kimono. As if plucked from the Jazz Age, the tiger-embroidered piece was reminiscent of the surreal and unapologetic glamor of the times.
Still, the singer updated the look with a bump-skimming white baby tee and a pair of distressed denim jeans that was very much of the now.
Ever a Southern belle, the Texas native held tight to a large Gucci hand fan as she made her way to her seat; the throwback accessory was the perfect way to cool down in style. By Beyoncé’s side sat her equally adorable daughter Blue Ivy.
Continuing in their recent family tradition of donning mommy-and-me Gucci ensembles, the 5-year-old sported an attention-grabbing citrine ruffled frock to the sporting event, throwing a cool jean jacket over top and lacing up into a pair of tomboy-cool Chuck Taylors.
The fashion moment was certainly enough to distract the audience away from the action on the court. Indeed, the singer’s maternity style is likely to steal the spotlight in the months to come.
