Spicer’s had a rocky start to the role, and his behaviour – including refusing to answer journalist’s questions and reading tweets he wasn’t happy with – has caused many to question not only his competency, but that of the administration.

President Trump is said to be disappointed with Spicer’s performance so far and is questioning why his chief of staff Reince Priebus recommended him for the role.

‘Priebus vouched for Spicer and against Trump’s instincts,’ a source told CNN. Adding that Trump ‘regrets it every day and blames Priebus’.

Spicer wasn’t Trump’s first choice for the role, it’s believed he would have preferred White House counsellor Kellyanne Conway for the job, but Spicer was pushed for the press secretary job by Priebus.

The White House are now urgently looking to recruit a communications director.

In response to the CCN report, a senior official claimed Trump is behind Spicer 100%.

Spicer is also said to feel humiliated by Melissa McCarthey’s impersonation of him on Saturday Night Live.

Meanwhile, a New York Times article claimed White House aides had been unable to locate light switches, so many meetings are taking place in the dark.

It was also reported that Donald Trump was spending a considerable amount ‘watching television in his bathrobe’ and making notes on negative news reports with a black Sharpie pen.

Spicer responded by claiming the article was ‘riddled with inaccuracies and lies’.

So people on Twitter responded by tweeting pictures of Trump in a dressing gown, naturally.
