El-Rufai Apolgises To FRSC For Asking Agency To Leave Kaduna
Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has finally apologized to the
Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for asking the agency to vacate the
state.
A statement by his Special Assistant on media, Samuel Aruwan, had stated that the decision was taken by the state Security Council after a meeting in which it reviewed complaints from the general public against the road marshals.
The government further directed the FRSC officials to concentrate
their activities “in ensuring safe travel on highways such as the
Abuja-Kaduna expressway and other federal highways”.
But on Wednesday, El-Rufai accused the media of “misreporting.” his order.
He spoke when the Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, visited him at the Government house, Kaduna.
The governor’s Twitter handle gave hints of the meeting, which also discussed plans for traffic management of Abuja-Kaduna road due to the planned closure of the Abuja airport.
“Gov. @elrufai Apologises to the @FRSCNigeria for any embarrassments
from the misreporting of the Kaduna State Security Council decisions.
”This clears the misconceptions around Kaduna State banning @FRSCNigeria from the state.
” Boboye also stated that @FRSCNigeria has a policy that where a state traffic management agency exists, officials withdraw from urban areas.
”Corps Marshal Boboye announces that there will be 8 additional FRSC outposts on the ABJ/KAD road and 4 Ambulances during the #ABVClosure
” Corps Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi commends the Kaduna State Government for setting up @KASTELEA and pledges support for the Agency.”
