Governor Fayose Accuses FG of Refusing To Pay Ekiti Monthly Allocation
Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose has accused the federal government of refusing to release the monthly allocation for his state.
Fayose also said that the government’s refusal to release the funds is delaying ongoing projects in the state.
He made the comments on Wednesday, February 15, while speaking to jounalists in the state.
“In
the last four weeks, Ekiti allocation and the budget support have not
been released. Ekiti is the only state that has not been paid for the
month of January,” he said.
“We have
written to the minister of finance. My commissioner was there. I have
spoken to the minister of finance but nobody is ready to talk to us. It
seems it is deliberate because up till now, no excuse is given for this
action.
“I want to appeal to the federal
government, I want to appeal to the minister of finance, not to allow
themselves to be used to oppress and suffer the innocent civil servants
of my state.
“This state has been running
peacefully, supporting Ayo Fayose at all times. If this is a political
attempt, or a deliberate attempt to cause problems in the state, it will
not stand. I am calling on people with conscience to speak up. We will
take necessary action to ensure that our money is paid,” he added.
Fayose also accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of threatening the contractors working in the state in a bid to “jeopardise ongoing projects.”
