Fresh 200 Ex-Militants Begin Technical Training At Innoson

In continuation of the Federal Government’s effort to restore peace and empower youths of the Niger Delta region, Batch B of ex-militants numbering 200, on Thursday, resumed technical education training on automobile  at Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company(IVM) Nnewi, Anambra State under Innoson Kiara Academy to last for nine months.

A training partner in the Office of Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta (OSAPND), Prince Jacob Momoh, said the training was a collaboration between the federal government and Innoson Group to empower the ex-militants with technical education.

He noted that the purpose of the training was to make the Niger Delta youths useful and employable at the end of the day and in the process avail them the opportunity to contribute their quota to national development.

Prince Momoh said that the trainees had demonstrated their passion to learn and improve their lot through the programme.

Head, vocational training in the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta, Faith Omofuma urged the trainees to take their nine months training serious as everything needed for successful training had been provided for them.

She noted that the training was not just put together for the trainees to acquire skills but to change their mindset about their environment and Nigeria in particular, adding that the trainees would be given employment after their training.

Omofuma revealed that IVM and Bayelsa State Government had perfected plans to set up a plant in the Niger Delta so as to better empower the youths of the area. She called on other States in Niger Delta to also key into the programme.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IVM, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, while welcoming the guests and the trainees to Nnewi, reassured them of his company’s commitment to not only train them on automobile but to teach them how to be rich and useful to society. He said that the training opportunity was his own way of giving back to society.

“We will give you all the training and show you how to make money. We will tell people who brought you here to provide every one of you a laptop and other necessary gadgets for your training,” Chief Chukwuma said.
