Ikpeazu Sacks 16 Abia Poly Workers
The governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has approved the dismissal of 16 non-academic staff of Abia State Polythecnic, Aba.
The approval was conveyed by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ikechi Mgbeoji.
The commissioner, in a statement obtained by Southern City News, said the affected staff ‘were found wanting after a recent verification of 524 WAEC results of Abia State Polythecnic staff, with WAEC confirming them fake and forged’.
“Reference to section 123(e)i-ii of senior staff conditions of service governing the institution, the penalty is dismissal. Based on the premise that forgery of certificate is a criminal offence and they earned salaries over the period, the staff will also forfeit arrears of salaries owed them by the polytechnic and will face prosecution,” the commissioner said.
