Arsenal Fans Mock Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain After Completing Liverpool Transfer
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has completed his £40 million move to Liverpool
and not all Arsenal fans are angry with the decision to sell the
midfielder to a domestic rival.
Arsene Wenger had insisted that the 24-year-old was ‘100 per cent’ certain to stay at the Emirates Stadium for one more season, even though his contract was due to expire next summer.
But Arsenal have ended up cashing in on the England international, and are now scrambling to find a replacement with Paris Saint-Germain’s Julian Draxler among the players targeted before the transfer window closes on Thursday evening.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s decision to reject Chelsea for Liverpool is reportedly due to his desire to permanently play in a central midfield role having featured in a variety of different positions under Wenger since 2011.
And Arsenal fans have been quick to remind Liverpool of the
midfielder’s inconsistency and poor Premier League goal tally – which
currently stands at nine goals in seven seasons.
