Kidnappers Demand N200m Ransom for Edo APC Chieftain

Kidnappers of the Director General of the All Progressives Congress campaign in Ovia Federal Constituency, Mr. Monday Aighobahi, are demanding for a ransom of N200m to release him.

Aighobahi was kidnapped on Tuesday along the Benin/Lagos highway while returning from the APC campaign rally at Ofosu, Ovia South West Local Government Area.

His son was abducted in 2008 when he was Chairman of Ovia South West local government but later released after huge ransom was paid.

Candidate of the APC for Ovia Federal Constituency, Mr. Dennis Idahosa, who disclosed to newsmen in Benin City, said the kidnapping was politically motivated.

Idahosa disclosed that the kidnappers contacted him directly two hours after the abduction.

“Yes, they called around 9pm last night and again called early this morning by insisting on the said amount, N200m, before they will release Aighobhahi.

“I am quite aware of the sinister motive of the people behind this, but they have failed, the determination to liberate Ovia is not all about Idahosa, it is the resolve of the people and they cannot kill the will of the people,” he stated.

Aighobhahi was adopted alongside one Mike Ogiamen, the APC ward leader of Ogbogui, a political stronghold of Aighobhahi.
