Nigerian Troops Resist Boko Haram Attack Again, Kill Many in Borno
A Wednesday night attack by terrorists group, Boko Haram, on 212 Tank
Battalion at Gajigana in Nganzai Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno
State was resistance by troops.
The Nigerian Army disclosed this while addressing newsmen at the scene of the attack on Thursday, saying that its troops successfully repelled the fresh attack coordinated by the insurgent group.
Brig.-Gen. Bulama Biu, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1, Operation Lafiya Dole, who addressed news men on the matter, explained that the terrorists on gun trucks attempted to infiltrate the troops’ location but met stiff resistance by the troops.
According to him, the troops with the help of the Nigeria Air Force engaged the insurgents in a fierce battle and repelled the attack.
Following the attack, a number of insurgents where killed, two gun trucks and high caliber ammunition were recovered from them, Biu said.
He went further to say that the army had started a new operation, codenamed ‘Halaka Dodo’, which is meant to rout out remnants of the insurgents hibernating at Gwoza-Mandara Mountains, Lake Chad basin and the northern part of the state.
Recall that troops had about two days ago also repelled a similar attack by the insurgents on troops’ location at Goniri in Yobe.
