Akoko Residents Bar Police From Arresting Suspected Daughter’s Killers

Residents of Ikare-Akoko community in Akoko North-East local government area of Ondo State were alleged to have prevented men of the state police command from arresting one Felix Babalola.
The accused was alleged to have beaten his four-year-old daughter, Testimony, to death last Wednesday on the allegation that she possessed evil spirit.
The little girl became unconscious after series of torture and was consequently rushed to the Ondo State University Teaching Hospital Akure by her mother (Babalola’s wife). But Testimony was confirmed dead on arrival by the doctor.
It was learnt that the mother of the deceased fled the hospital premises with the corpse of the girl to an unknown destination and since then the police had been trailing Babalola and his wife.
Mrs Babalola was said to have disappeared from the hospital for fear of being arrested by the police.
However, sources said the police traced the suspects to Ikare town where they reportedly arrested them but the residents of the area allegedly prevented them from arresting the suspected couple.
The reason for preventing the suspects from being arrested by the community was still unknown.
