My dad abandoned us when I was 4 – BBNaija’s Pere
Big Brother Naija All Stars finalist, Pere Egbi, has revealed why he claims his mother’s state, Bayelsa, as his origin despite his dad being from Delta State.
The US military trainee said he doesn’t like associating with Delta State because his dad has never been part of his life.
He disclosed this in a recent interview with media personality, Hero Daniels.
Pere said, “I like to say I’m from Bayelsa State because my mum is from Bayelsa. My dad, however, is from Delta State. My father has never been a part of my life at all.
“He left when I was about 4 and my younger sister was 3. He used to live in America before I was born. He came from America and married my mum, and then went back to America. A bunch of things happened, and my parents ended up separating. So, I was raised only practically by my mother.
“I’m the first child and the only boy. My mum was the only one who did everything to make sure we had shelter, good education. She paid our school fees from kindergarten to secondary school. And then, I left Nigeria for the United States to do a nursing degree. But before that, I joined the US military and served for six years. After serving, I came out and started my degree.
“I grew up in Warri because that was where I was born.”
He, however, said the absence of his dad did not affect him because there were “other male figures in the family who stepped in and played the fatherly role properly.”
