Court Fixes May 29 For Trial Of Miyetti Allah Leader, Bodejo

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled the trial of Bello Bodejo, leader of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, for May 29.

This decision comes after the dismissal of Bodejo’s application for bail.

Bodejo, who faces terrorism-related charges, was absent at the previous court session, causing a delay in the trial’s commencement.

His counsel, Ahmed Raji, assured the court that his client was prepared for the upcoming trial.

Raji indicated that there would be no immediate appeal against the bail ruling, as the court has mandated an expeditious hearing.

Recall that Bodejo was detained by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) for allegedly forming an ethnic militia group, Kungiya Zaman Lafiya.

Arraigned in March on three counts under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, Bodejo has denied all charges.

His lawyer had previously sought bail on grounds of ill health and fundamental rights, but Justice Ekwo dismissed the application.
